Martha Hereford Named Director of Armstrong Teasdale's Professional Advancement of Women Program

February 9, 2010

Armstrong Teasdale LLP has named Martha “Marty” Hereford, an immigration partner in the firm’s St. Louis office, as director of the firm’s Professional Advancement of Women Program (PAW).

“Armstrong Teasdale’s PAW has successfully supported and promoted women professionals through a variety of initiatives and programs,” said Hereford. “I am committed to its mission and honored to be selected as director. I look forward to working with senior management to increase recruitment, retention and advancement of women attorneys and to assist our women attorneys in finding opportunities to develop new business and expand relationships with existing clients.” Hereford, who joined Armstrong Teasdale in 2001, is a member of the firm’s International practice group and focuses in the area of business and family immigration.

PAW was founded in 1998 by Therese “Tessa” Rolufs Trelz, the Armstrong Teasdale partner who has lead the program since its inception.

“Tessa’s determination and hard work to create an environment where women can thrive both in their professional and personal lives has made PAW the success it is today,” said Michael A.Chivell, managing partner of Armstrong Teasdale. “The fact that other St. Louis firms have used PAW as a model is recognition of Tessa’s great achievement. Moving forward, I am confident that Marty, who has been a longtime avid supporter of the program, will provide dynamic leadership to PAW as it continues to grow.”

Armstrong Teasdale’s PAW is a firm-wide effort to support and promote women attorneys. The mission is to create a positive and supportive environment for them, strengthen existing relationships with women clients who own or manage businesses and other organizations, and to forge new and continuing relationships with professional and executive women in the community. This goal is met by providing networking and educational opportunities for the firm’s women attorneys and businesswomen of diverse backgrounds, as well as offering a forum for the sharing of ideas and discussion of common interests.
